Summer Offer
The Portside ART Institute mandate is to provide space for creativity, learning and growth for artists to show, discuss, educate and sell their work to provide insight into the benefits of the therapeutic nature of art. The gallery space provides a backdrop for our Institute, which provides educational opportunities, retreats, weddings, workshops, and art camps. The art gallery is open to the public with full-time hours, is located on a busy main street just down from the beachfront, and provides a high traffic location for plenty of potential for sales.
The Portside ART Institute advocates accessibility to contemporary arts and culture for artists, the community and wider audiences throughout southwestern Ontario and further afield by providing numerous diverse exhibition and event opportunities within its exhibition space. The gallery supports the creative freedom of artists by providing an open framework in which to experiment and test out new approaches to artistic practices, exhibition organization and artist-led shows and initiatives. Solo and group exhibitions are emphasized; however, event proposals are also welcome from curators, collectives, designers, critics, scholars, students, community, business, literary, musical, comedy and cultural groups. The Portside Art Institute’s open, multidisciplinary approach to programming allows for new ideas, perspectives and forms in art and culture. Not only by providing space for local residents to express creativity, the gallery offers a welcoming centre for community engagement, exploration and enjoyment of contemporary art, business, educational and cultural events.
Programming emphasizes the work of local and greater south western Ontario artists and occasionally features national and international exhibitions. The gallery welcomes contemporary visual art in all media, including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, installation, performance, video and other expressionistic art forms. Submissions are received on an ongoing basis.
The Portside Art Institute is a not for profit agency that works in conjunction with The Counselling House located in Woodstock and London, providing mental health therapy to a wide-ranging population.
